The Direct Medical Costs of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) in US Hospitals

Published by admin under HAI's, medical water filters

A new study from the CDC (March 2009), authored by R. Douglas Scott II, indicates that the benefits of HAI prevention in US hospitals range from a low of $5.7-6.8 billion to a high of $25-31.5 billion.

Prevention of HAI’s is gaining importance since reimbursement for the treatment of HAI’s is being denied by government and private insurance.  Anything that reduces the chance of HAI’s will be a direct benefit to the hospital’s bottom line; and it provides a better service to the patient.  Nephros DSU filters can be used in multiple areas to help control HAI’s.
